Me Time

Sometimes life takes over and makes you do what you know you should be doing however, as a working mum it isn't always easy. My wee girl was ill a few weeks back and I had to pick her up early from school on a Friday.

I had been working in the morning and had planned on continuing to work until I needed to do the school run.

Having to pick up my wee girl earlier made me re-adjust my priorities and forced me to stop and assess what really mattered! There was nothing urgent that had to go out that day and when I stopped to "pause" I realised that there was nothing I wanted to do more that afternoon than to snuggle up with my wee girl and have lots of cuddles and watch one film, two films, maybe even three!

How often do you chose to get off "the hamster wheel?" Rather than be forced to because of some event?

It is easy to be caught in the trap, just like it is easy to say "yes" to things.

Therefore, Realise that every time you say yes to something or someone, you’re Aspiring to say no to something else.

Do learn to say "no" and enjoy those quality "me" times!

  • Recently, I was delivering the "First 90 Days in your New Role" for LHH. This is a workshop which generates great discussion around helping people who are still interviewing to find their next appropriate opportunity and to think about how they would answer this question at interview.
