Daughter’s Diary

I looked around the school of Alban Academy but before that I wrote in a note pad what I needed to see in a school:

1. Something that shows the values of the school;
2. Kind people;
3. Kind and loving teachers that show the values;
4. Good size;
5. A fun environment;
6. To have displays of their subjects to show me what they do;
7. To have a hall;
8. To have a library (because I love books);
9. To go to sports festivals;
10. To have a kind valued Head Teacher;
11. To have home school books;
12. To have good transport to and from the school;
13. A place where it is easy to make new friends; and
14. Lots of clubs.

Look kids when I was looking around Alban Academy, I realised that I wasn’t supposed to be scared of anything because it was a lovely school.

I wish I wasn’t so nervous and sure it is a lot to take in, but I am sure when you pick your middle school you’ll feel great like you did in your lower school.

It is also very important that you pick the school you want to go to and make sure your parents don’t choose your school for you, as it is your decision.

I have three more schools to visit and this time about it I feel excited, a little bit scared but mostly excited and I hope I choose the right school for me and I hope I love it there.

  • “If you do what you’ve always done; you’ll get what you’ve always got”
    This old adage is so true whether applied to recruitment methods, meetings or retaining talent to name but a few areas.

  • One of the positives of the pandemic is that there is no longer the monopoly on leadership due to position.
  • I have previously written about "Belonging - what does this mean to you?" (http://j-w-c.co.uk/blog-display/293). I want to now build on this and consider it from a team's perspective and what it means if you are a manager leading a team currently.
  • Earlier this year, I completed my Mental Health First Aider Training (MHFA) England, something I had wanted to do for a little while.
  • Recently, I was delivering the "First 90 Days in your New Role" for LHH. This is a workshop which generates great discussion around helping people who are still interviewing to find their next appropriate opportunity and to think about how they would answer this question at interview.
