Groundhog Day - Finding Things To Make A Day/Holiday Different.

I was on holiday the other week with my family and I was thinking of what we could do to make our “holiday” different from what has become our “normal” working from home (WFH) and virtual schooling.

We decided we would hold our own art classes. My daughter received some beautiful art books for her Christmas which show you how to draw faces and bodies and so we thought we would use those.

I had never drawn people so this was going to take me completely out of my comfort zone! Twice in two weeks. I also had to do some acting for the opening scene of a play my daughter had to record for school. (See my blog - Being Human Article 4 -  “What you do for your kids!”)

What was lovely was the quality time together - before we knew it four hours had passed.

What was also really insightful was how we each approached our drawings. I am aware that when I feel I don’t know something or am less experienced in an area, I feel less confident and my Cool Blue colour energy preference (reference Insights Discovery) is automatically dialled up.

I look for structure and logic and follow a process. If my lines weren’t quite right, they were rubbed out and drawn again! Fortunately @Jane Davenport’s books did break down, step by step, how you drew a face in this way and so embraced my Cool Blue energy preference.

Polar opposite to me were my husband and daughter who drew on their Sunshine Yellow and Fiery Red colour energy preferences to create swirls of pencil movement at a frantic pace until a picture was created.

Realise we are all individuals and have all four colour energy preferences;

Aspire to use all of your colour energy preferences to adapt and connect more effectively; and

Do, do something different to change your day!
