Merry Christmas Everyone

As a Career Transition Coach and Consultant this is just one of the things I ask people to think about and write down.  It is amazing how challenging people find this task and I often hear the words "I was just doing my job". To you as the person doing the job it may have felt like this, however there will be things you have achieved, for example:
Did you change or introduce a new process?
Did you organise an event?
Did you coach/mentor/support a team member in their role?
Did you identify a problem and solve it?
Were you a liaison between departments? How were you able to make things run more efficiently?
What you think of will quite often be what you are most proud of this year and/or what you most enjoyed doing.
Within a true performance management culture, where regular reviews are the norm, more regular reflection and acknowledgment of what you have achieved happens.
Even if at work if this hasn't happened in the past, take some time out for yourself now while it is fresh in your mind.
Realise just what you have achieved;
Aspire to make this self-reflection of your accomplishments a regular occurrence and
Do it now personally for yourself and see how great you feel!
My greatest achievements this year are the great feedback I have received from numerous coaching clients I have supported in transitioning into a more senior position and securing their ideal opportunity as well as on a personal level being asked to support a new small business owner in an event taking place in January 25 – more to come on that front!
All that is left for me to say, in the words of two great songs:
Heather Small’s lyrics in Proud - “What have you done to make you feel proud?” and a good old 1980's Christmas song "Merry Christmas Everyone!!"

  • Quite a few years ago now, I wrote a blog called “Resilient - The Completed Jigsaw”. For many reasons walking the West Highland Way over 7 days from 4-10 April was my completed jigsaw.

  • As Christmas approaches and 2024 draws to a close, I would just like to thank each-and-every one of you for your amazing support this year. I love working with my clients, and feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful bunch of people around me in my day-to-day life!
As one-year ends, and another begins, it is an ideal time to reflect on our successes; what we have done well; what we have accomplished, however big or small.

  • “If you do what you’ve always done; you’ll get what you’ve always got”
This old adage is so true whether applied to recruitment methods, meetings or retaining talent to name but a few areas.

  • One of the positives of the pandemic is that there is no longer the monopoly on leadership due to position.
  • I have previously written about "Belonging - what does this mean to you?" (http://j-w-c.co.uk/blog-display/293). I want to now build on this and consider it from a team's perspective and what it means if you are a manager leading a team currently.
